About the Role We are expanding our Program and Project advisory services team within our BDO Canberra practice and as such we are seeking expressions of interest from applicants across Consultant to Manager levels to join us. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with a high-performing and results driven team, applying your expertise and passion for portfolio, program and project management assurance and advice, to deliver meaningful insights and pragmatic actions to drive real improvements in complex government digital transformation and policy implementation initiatives. You will work closely with our Federal Government clients, supporting the team with scoping, planning, and delivering major assurance engagements that shape the future of public sector delivery - supported by a Senior Leadership team with decades of industry experience who are invested in your career growth and success. This includes supporting relevant training and certifications in relevant project management disciplines. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Support the scoping, fieldwork and reporting of program and project assurance reviews, assessing overall delivery health and its delivery effectiveness, risk management, compliance, and maturity to help clients achieve successful outcomes. Work collaboratively with our program and project client teams to deliver real-time and meaningful insights with pragmatic recommendations that drive continuous delivery improvements and alignment with strategic objectives. Work alongside senior team members to generate insights that matter, using data analysis, and clear reporting, tailored to the needs of diverse stakeholders. Contribute to project planning activities, including the development of scope documents, workplans, coordination of project setup, and preparation of key project assurance artefacts. Understand and apply BDO’s assurance and evaluation methodologies, tools, and templates to ensure rigorous, consistent and value-driven approach across all engagements. Mentor, support and educate junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development within the team (as appropriate) About You We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our growing and dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in helping clients navigate complex change by bringing structure, insight, and a collaborative mindset to every engagement. It is strongly recommended that you have demonstrable experience in the following: Tertiary degree (or equivalent) in project management, risk management, business, or IT. Certification in project management methodologies (preferably with Agile, PMP, MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, or a similar certification). Strong background and knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices Demonstrated experience in, or an understanding of program or project assurance, performance evaluation, and audit processes with exposure to latest better practices and frameworks in delivering assurance within Federal Government, risk management, project management, project governance and legislative compliance etc. In the absence of direct project assurance experience, relevant consulting or professional services experience in project/program delivery or strategic advisory is highly valued. A strong internal drive, a growth mindset, and clear aspirations for leadership and professional development. Proven business development acumen, and a natural ability to build and maintain client relationships. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across a variety of mediums (including in person, virtual, reports, emails, presentations), work in a multi-disciplinary team, manage engagements and deliverables To be eligible to apply for this role you must hold Australian Citizenship, with the ability to secure an Australian Government Security Clearance.
